Undoubtedly the one of the most successful native flower crops of recent times has been the Albery’s Red selection of New SouthWales Christmas Bush, Ceratopetalum gummiferum. This superior form of Christmas Bush has found many fans among florists, consumers, growers and marketers.

Significantly, it boosted the wildflower industry on the mid north coast of NSW, making established farms more profitable and encouraging many new growers to enter the industry.

There are a number of other named varieties of Christmas Bush, including Albery’s Millenium Red, Shiraz, Christmas Snow and White Christmas. There are certainly other reds out there, with a stronger red colour and bigger flowers. Albery’s Red flowers freely and consistently and tolerates regular pruning. It flowers reliably every year, and mostly on target for Christmas Day.
