Exports of cut flowers from Australia were estimated to be worth $A30.1 million in 1995/96 with wildflowers comprising over 90% of the total. In 1998/99 the value of exports from Victoria was $A7.6 million a 25% increase from 1997/98. Insect infestations in the flowers and foliage have caused importing countries to fumigate and downgrade or reject consignments of flowers.
